What is early intervention?

Early intervention provides specialized developmental support for infants and young children who may have developmental delays or disabilities. Services focus on helping children strengthen communication, motor, cognitive, social-emotional, and adaptive skills while empowering families to support their child’s development during everyday routines.

What are BabyNet Early Intervention Services?

BabyNet is South Carolina’s early intervention system for eligible infants and toddlers from birth to age three. Services may include developmental assessment, individualized family planning, family training, coordination of services, and other supports designed around the developmental needs of the child and family.

How do I know if my child may need early intervention?

Children develop at different rates, but concerns with communication, movement, learning, social interaction, independence, or other developmental milestones may be reasons to seek additional guidance. If you have concerns about your child’s development, our team can help you understand possible next steps and available services.

What is a psychoeducational evaluation?

A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to better understand a child’s cognitive, academic, adaptive, and social-emotional functioning. The results can help identify strengths, learning challenges, and educational needs while providing recommendations that families and educators can use to support the child’s success.

Are psychoeducational evaluations available in Spanish?

Yes. New Horizons Intervention Services offers psychoeducational evaluations in Spanish, helping families receive assessment services in a language that supports clear communication and a better understanding of the evaluation process and recommendations.

What topics are covered in Parent Education Workshops?

Parent Education Workshops may include topics such as effective communication, parenting styles, positive discipline, child development, age-specific guidance, stress management, self-care, and practical strategies families can use to create supportive environments where children can grow and thrive.

How can Special Education Consultation help my family?

Our Special Education Consultation services help parents better understand IEPs, Section 504 Plans, educational accommodations, compliance information, school services, and their child’s educational rights. Our goal is to give families the knowledge and confidence needed to advocate effectively and collaborate with schools.

Which areas does New Horizons serve?

New Horizons Intervention Services supports eligible children and families in several South Carolina communities, including Richland, Lexington, Kershaw, and Saluda counties. Contact our team if you are unsure whether services are available in your area.

Are services centered around the child only, or does the family participate too?
